Some of the things that A World Aware has done with the children this year: (2007)

Ivy is chuffed. See below at what has been going on.
-
| Ivy inspects her new stove. Very badly needed. Patty, a team member from A World Aware, Inc. provided support services to the team and the house hold as many work projects were under way. |
-
| On the left, Michael, founder of A World Aware, Inc. helps in a plumbing project. On the right, skill in measuring pays off when installing a new sink in the kitchen. Everyone got a chance to perform all skills in the job, the result a more sanitary and functional work space. Holding the new sink below is Sbo, Nellie is assisting Christine. Nellie also repaired a toilet by herself and learned how to repair furniture. |

The measuring again was critical when these young ladies installed a new window pane. They measured and cut the pane (Sbo showed remarkable courage to make the cut) to fit, then glazed it. A job very well done. Their new assignment was to teach the boys how to do the other broken pane. A previous assignment was to clean the frame, prime and paint it for repair. A World Aware, Inc. has been very impressed at how eager these young people are to learn and apply skills.
The rewards:
New found confidence in ability.
Increase in self esteem.
Learning how to use tools safely and use correct tool for the job.
Learned how to plan a project start to finish.
Helps Ivy do maintenance that would have cost unavailable funds for craftsmen to do.
Oh yea, they were also given tools by AWA so they could continue doing what they have learned. They have also been given the choice of what tools they want for reward. Quite an interesting conversation ensued on this issue. |

We are grateful for what A World Aware, Inc. has done here.
We hope they will come back soon.
