Most of the children went on a camping trip.  This was to participate in another project with
A World Aware/South Africa.
This project took place in Moiletswane, in the Northwest Province, this team was selected because of their expertise in the tower garden.  Again, as they did at Melville Union Church, this team were the instructors, and tutored the community so they would be able to continue building when the team left the area.

Note from the chairman of A World Aware, South Africa:

It is with great pleasure that i commend this group of young people for the excellent service they have performed.  Our organization is extremely happy to work with Emmanuel Homes as they show a great deal of enthusiasm and are conscientious about the work they participate in.  Again, this project is an example of why we are proud to be associated with them, and we look forward to working with Emmanuel Homes in the future. Our sincere appreciation.

It all started with tent setup.

Once on site, a quick survey of where the 4 towers would go.

Now it gets to be fun.  After some of the crowd showed up the instruction begins.  Christinah shows examples of what is being done, and explains all the details.

Example one done, now time for the community to get their hands on the work.

A critical part, mixing the soil in the right proportions.

Christinah continues diligent explaination as the remaining team answer questions for all those involved.

Every bit helps in the construction.  Here Francinah ports water for the soil layers as the tower goes up.

Tembi likes hammers.  Here she is breaking concrete for the stone column.  Someone had to do it!

Now the concept is starting to make sense, and the questions get better and more intense.

Fun activities for all the children too. The team kept them plenty busy.

Inside activities included crafts, singing, just plain fun.

Proud workers showing their crafts.

And wow, face painting too!  Can you believe it?

Those who stayed for 7 hours got to be in this photo when all was done.  Completed, 4 towers, and a great deal of excitement.

The team that was left standing.  The others are sleeping somewhere.

A farwell to the camping.  Breaking down the
camp is always a sad time.

The end of the program with the team singing at church.  Thanks for a job well done!  You are missed in this community already.

Host
Nora Dichabe, our host for the team.  She has been very generous to give a place of rest to the team, and a place to have meals.  Thanks Nora

.

Host 2
Our project host, William Ndala with his wife Francinah.  They are from Pretoria but concerned with the community here.  They have provided some of the logistical support for the team, and have cooked, cleaned and contributed in several ways.  Thank you both for your service to us.
